Carlos sat on a cold bench outside the Inasmuch waiting for breakfast to begin, clutching a tattered notebook filled with dreams. He had lost everything—his home, his job, and his sense of purpose. But deep down, he still believed in a brighter future.
After entering The Lodge, he learned about the Hope Initiative program at FTCC. Inspired, Carlos enrolled and poured himself into his studies. These classes fueled a determination and ignited a hope of a new beginning. After earning his certificates, he started a job with Mayflower Packing Company and started seeing all the truck drivers come and go. After a few months he took another leap of faith to enroll in a commercial driver’s license (CDL) course.
With every lesson, his confidence grew. The instructors saw his dedication and encouraged him. After months of hard work, Carlos graduated, clutching his CDL like a ticket to freedom. Immediately, he landed a job with a trucking company.
Now, as he drives down the open road, the wind in his hair, Carlos reflects on his journey. From the shelter to the cab of a truck, he had transformed his life, proving to himself that resilience can drive anyone forward.
